LIVELIHOOD SYSTEMS

Most of the people we work with have little or no access to , or control over, productive resources in the community. Garnering the little that they do have and supplementing it with alternative sources of income is an important component in enhancing both their economic and social well being. Since the bulk of India's poor depends on agriculture for its livelihood, the management and development of land and water resources forms the mainstay of our work at the grassroots level.

The poorest are usually the landless and for them, different initiatives are devised depending on local conditions.

Here again, recognizing the woman as proprietor and manager of livelihood resource has, in  our experience, made a dramatic improvement in the socio-economics condition of the community.
